Ant Power! - Emergent Improvisation

with Beatrix Brunscko

If you give a colony of ants a week and a pile of dirt they will transform it into skyscrapers in
an ant-scaled city. Without a blueprint or a leader millions of little individuals create a
complex, fascinating, functioning society. It turns out that ants perform these complex tasks
by obeying a few simple rules. It all results from local interactions between the
individuals who are simply using their ant power and are just doing their jobs as ants in
response to outside cues and each other.

In this workshop let them be an inspiration for the collaboration of us improvisors on stage.
Let them be our role models for working together on stage when we are using our improv
power to create a piece of theatre from nothing. This workshop throws focus to the base and roots of true Improvisation.

Viola Spolins follow the follower instead of the concept of follow the leader.
We will learn what emerges from nothing by doing nothing else than the fellow players are
doing, who are doing nothing else than their fellow players are doing, who are doing nothing
else then their fellow improvisers….just pure trust in and focus towards your partners.

Highly listen, open up and look into each other's eyes for real, respond honestly in every
single moment of connection, unconditionally follow. no leaders, no heroes, no Egos, no
ideas, no offers, no directions, no leaders, no storyplotpoints to find and follow -
just turning into ants.
