This is a masterclass for students wanting to increase their skill and confidence as an actor as well as an improvisor.
Working with written text we will deepen character creation and understanding of relationships. Playing the moment by moment shifts in action and reaction in a scene. Using Shakespeare as our text we will engage with poetic language, increasing stagecraft skills of vocal projection, articulation and the use of theatrical space and presence. This masterclass workshop will include a final performance of the chosen scenes to add that vital element – the audience.
To allow for individual development there are a limited number of places offered for this masterclass and pre-requisite skills are required.
With a class size of 8 students, this course is designed to give each person an active and intensive experience.
Note: this course will require students to do work at home such as memorisation.
Prerequisites: Impro Melbourne’s completion of our core courses (Spontaneity, Narrative Technique, Character Scene Work Formats and Styles), or equivalent improvisation and acting experience as determined by the Artistic Director.
