The Sofa Sessions: An Improvisation Workshop & Performance Series
What happens when a single sofa becomes an entire world?
Join us for a unique improvisation experience that explores the endless possibilities of one simple piece of furniture. Across five workshop classes, we'll develop characters, relationships, stories, and theatrical games inspired by a sofa on stage. From living rooms and therapists' offices to bus stops, waiting rooms, and worlds yet to be imagined, the sofa becomes the starting point for bold, playful, and surprising scenes.
The workshop culminates in three public performances, where participants will create fully improvised shows built around the sofa as the central set piece. Discover how limitations can spark creativity, strengthen ensemble work, and inspire memorable storytelling.
As a performer, this series offers a chance to deepen your scene work, embrace spontaneity, and transform an ordinary couch into extraordinary theatre.
The performances will take place on a Friday night at 9pm after a student Jam and a performance from Beat Cafe.
