Amanda Knights
Performance Experience:
Amanda’s love for impro was reignited after she saw Impro Melbourne run a workshop at a high school she was teaching at in 2011. She wanted to experience the sense of joy she could see in the faces of her students so she signed up to Impro Melbourne’s Spontaneity class the very next day!
Since then, Amanda has performed in many Impro Melbourne shows including Maestro™, Theatresports™, Smells Like A Song, Kingdom of Dragons, Jane Austen Improvised and more. Other improvised theatre companies she has performed with are First Draft Theatre, Interrobang!? (formally known as Exploding Heads Impro) and improvised puppetry troupe The Mighty Littles.
Amanda has a Bachelor of Contemporary Arts (Drama) from Deakin University and has performed in an array of non-improvisational works including Aussie Mixtape, a 2014 Melbourne Fringe Festival show she co-wrote with a friend she met during the Impro Melbourne Narrative course she took in 2011.
Teaching Experience:
Amanda is a dynamic educator who has taught in a variety of settings for over 15 years. She has a Diploma of Education - Secondary (Drama and Biology) from Monash University and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment from the Chisholm Institute.
Currently, Amanda inspires curiosity and connects students to the natural world as an educator at Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria and Zoos Victoria. Impro has influenced her teaching philosophy and she endeavours to make every single student she teaches look good!
Amanda is excited to help people become better people through the power of improvisation as an Impro Melbourne teacher.
