About Mark
Mark Gambino is a multi-disciplined creative. Across the realms of performance, writing, photography and production, he applies facets of improvisation to various endeavours on a daily basis.

How has improvisation added to your career or life?
Improvisation has shown me that the only constant in this universe, is change. Developing rules or conditions for what you think life is, while noble, is a futile gesture. We live, literally, from one moment to the next; always in a state of response, ergo, the only thing we can every truly ‘be’, is present.

What has Impro Melbourne given you?
Impro Melbourne taught me courage, commitment and the sheer joy of letting go.

A favourite Impro Melbourne moment.
My favourite moment with Impro Melbourne was when I played a luggage carousel during the annual Celebrity Theatresports. By simply moving a suitcase around in pattern, I conveyed a complex location to around 800 people in the audience. It was a memorable experience and a great lesson to learn: shut up and do less.

Any words of advice for improvisers?
You don’t know what you don’t know, so don’t be afraid to let go of what you think you know.
