We couldn’t have planned it better (We didn't—honest! We’re improvisors!). With Citizen Wayne and Hoof Hearted through to the Theatresports™ Grand Final, this week’s Semi-final match is stacking up to be a cutthroat affair with four teams tied for 3rd place on the ladder.
Last Sunday’s final match of our regular Theatresports™ season saw four teams take the stage, three of them vying for a place in this week’s Semi Final, their last chance to make it through to the Grand Final on July 13th. Although Hoof Hearted’s second place showing was enough to boost them to the top of the ladder, daring duo Jimmy-James Eaton and Mark Gambino (pictured above) from Middlegameatry won the match, despite playing without teammates Liam Ryan and Fran Middleton.
Middlegameatry’s final scene for the night, the team’s new game “Forever Walking”, demonstrated just how committed the pair was to throwing themselves in the deep end. As a steady stream of random objects, characters and situations provided by the other teams glided across the stage from left to right, Mark and Jimmy-James wove them into a (mostly) coherent narrative for five whole minutes!
Another highlight for the evening was Tie of the Tiger guest player Josh Dore’s depiction of a mental patient who “thinks he’s Snoop Dog”, in the world debut of one-minute game “Scene with Snoop Dog”. As he left the stage with the audience in tearful hysterics, Josh admitted “I don’t know who Snoop Dog is.”

With four teams now tied for 3rd place on the ladder, this week’s Semi-Final promises to be a bloodbath, with the two winning teams going through to the Grand Final!
