Citizen Wayne Takes Theatresports™ Week Three

The unstoppable Citizen Wayne wowed the crowd for a second time this week, sealing its leading position in the race to the Theatresports™ Grand Final.

While competing teams brought to the stage their best characters and stories, Citizen Wayne charmed the crowd by delivering the unexpected. This began with a pair of back-to-back scenes: a “fringe-style” performance art piece about breaking the rules with the number seven (I think!), followed by a “First Line, Last Line” in which the two given lines, “Don’t touch me.” and “Moist!” were the only words spoken in the surreal scene.

Later in the night, Citizen Wayne returned to its crowd-pleasing roots with a masterful “Accent Rollercoaster” (which included such unusual accents as “Nicki Minaj” and “Stephen Hawking”), and then capped off the night with a “One Man Musical” set in an telco call centre. With this second victory under its belt, Citizen Wayne is well on its way to being the leading team going into the Grand Final, with only Hoof Hearted in a position to keep pace.

The final scores for the night were:

  • Citizen Wayne: 57
  • Suspenders of Disbelief: 43
  • Middlegameatry: 33
  • Tie of the Tiger: 30
  • The Upper Somerton Aesthetic Society: 30
