The Playwright

with Tim Redmond
The Playwright

Let's deep-dive into writers' worlds and see what they give us. Over 5 classes, students will immerse into a focused masterclass on four writers.. We'll explore and mine their worlds for theme, pacing and nuance, then use the discoveries to create one act performance plays.

The Writers -

Tennessee Williams (1911-1983) - Shame, family secrets and the oppressive heat of (and desperate need for) another human being.

Virginia Woolf (1882-1941) - If Jane Austen and Anton Chekhov had a child, it would be Woolf. The inconsolable yearning for release and the everyday beauty that makes it tolerable

Tim Winton (1960 -present)  - Australian stories of landscape, healing, and rediscovering who you really are.

Steven Sondheim (1930-2021) - The godfather of the modern American musical. Sweeney Todd. Company. Into the Woods.
