Teens Impro

with Brenna Dixon

An improvisation course for young people who want to play, have fun, and make things up on the spot!

In this 8-week course, they will learn the basics of improvisation through engaging games and exercises that call on spontaneity, collaboration, and creativity, all in a safe and inclusive environment.  Great for all budding actors, young people, and those who want a confidence boost.

Focusing on

  • Being present in the moment
  • Accepting ideas - saying 'Yes!'
  • Idea generation
  • Supportive play and collaboration
  • Silencing the internal critic
  • Improving communication skills
  • Active listening

This term, the teens will continue to learn and develop the structure for their own improvised show. This exploration and development will culminate in a relaxed performance at the end of the Term.

Ages 13 years - 17 years (If you are over or under these years please email us at publicworkshops@impromelbourne.com.au for the next available course for you.)

"I love sharing improvisation with young people. Improvisation develops students' confidence, resilience, decision-making, resourcefulness, teamwork and listening skills. It can help to reduce anxiety and fear of judgement. It challenges us to embrace and celebrate mistakes, to be bold and to support each other. All you need is yourself and your fellow improvisers." - Brenna Dixon

The class size is limited to 12 students.

These skills can then be taken into acting, public speaking, general communication, and more.
