‘joie de vivre’! The Moulin rouge is a dazzling and spectacular world with champagne-filled parties, the French Cancan and the rich rubbing up against bohemian artists who simply wanted to have fun.
In late 19th century Paris everyone flocked to the Moulin Rouge. The Moulin promised a cabaret experience like no other, a riotous evening of risqué music hall acts, sultry singers and glamorous dancing girls and everyone was welcome to share the magic. Under its crimson gaslights upper class ladies rubbed shoulders with the artisans of Montmartre while penniless artists and academics clinked glasses with millionaires. Its shadows gave cover to petty criminals and royalty alike.
