Gorilla Theatre™ 2014: The Forfeit-fest!

by Jessica Pantou on 28 August, 2014 in Shows

Last Sunday night at Gorilla Theatre™ we saw, what shall henceforth be known as, “The week of forfeits!” or “Forfeit-fest 2014!”

As you may know the way Gorilla Theatre™ works is that each director is either awarded a Banana, or Forfeit for their work directing any particular scene in the show.

Forfeits are used as a small (fun) punishment, designed to help the director realise their mistakes so they can correct them. However this particular audience took their role as judge and jury very seriously and really went to town punishing our directors if the scene called for it! I should also mention there was a fair bit of praise, with a heap of bananas making it to the board for successful scenes!

But I digress … here I would like to share with you just a couple of the great forfeits our fearless directors faced last Sunday night.

Nick I will Improve

Nick had a target on his back from the nights beginning, and at interval he was instructed to wear the words “I WILL IMPROVE” across his forehead for the rest of the show.

We also saw Tim receive a new nickname. This carried over to Impro Melbourne’s Company training on Monday night. Looking good Fart face!

And last but not least Amy received a stylish new look for not carrying through her theme into a particular scene. She was told to she has to wear a drawn on Mustache for the remainder of the show. “Make it curly!” she demanded and our host Jaime happily obliged.

With just 3 weeks left of our Gorilla Season, I honestly couldn’t tell you what may happen next! Both during the scenes and off stage, it’s a wild night of improvisation as soon as your ascend into 5 Carlton Street.
Come along and join in the magic of holding the directors lives in your hands!
