At The Movies is a hilarious romp through B movie heaven.

Lights! Camera! Improvise!

Lights! Camera! Improvise! At The Movies is a hilarious romp through B movie heaven that everyone will love. Here’s how it works.

Each night you the audience get to decide which of two different B movies you’d like to see the Impro Melbourne cast have fun with. Once the choice is made, the actors and audience all watch the first five minutes of the chosen film. Then the screening is halted, the lights come up, and the players take over. Drawing on their comedic artistry and superlative storytelling skills the company will create the rest of the movie, taking it all the way to its big, cheesy conclusion.

None of the actors has seen the film so no one has any idea how the real plot unfolds, and with a different choice of films on offer for every show, it's like a mini B movie festival tucked inside a comedy festival.

Director Sarah Kinsella is in charge of the action and she’ll select each night’s movies. Sarah performed At The Movies with Montreal Improv, who together with Vancouver’s Little Mountain Improv developed this hugely popular format. A massive sell-out success at the 2018 Montreal Improv Festival, Impro Melbourne is thrilled to have been given permission to premiere At The Movies in Australia as part of MICF 2019.

It’s a night of hilarious fun that’s guaranteed to have movie nerds, comedy freaks and die-hard impro fans all returning again and again. So call a bunch of friends, grab your popcorn and hunker down for a rare red carpet treat.

Cast: Sarah Kinsella, Rik Brown, Patti Stiles, Russell Fletcher, Jason Geary, Lliam Amor, Amanda Buckley, Nigel Sutton, Adam McKenzie, Brenna Dixon, Jim Fishwick, Jess Pratt, Kevin Yank, Rhys Auteri, Sophie Power, Simon Dowling plus musicians Pan Reed, Gordon Dorin and technical director Teddy Lines.
