With Patrick Duffy
With the principles of Spontaneity under your belt, you’re ready to tell stories.
“Absolutely wonderful personal and professional development tool.”
Narrative Technique teaches how to create an improvised story without any planning. It's freeform creative writing, on your feet. We build on the improvisation skills you learned in Spontaneity and introduce you to new vocabulary and skills to begin building narratives.
Prerequisites: Impro Melbourne's Spontaneity course or other impro experience/training as determined by the Artistic Director. If not taken Spontaneity please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
Students learn to
- Make bold offers
- Identify the different types of offers made in scenes
- Build their listening and observational skills
- Take creative fearless leaps
- Identify the 'story' offer
- Understand and identify the impro terms hedging, cancelling, and side-tracking
The course is designed to revisit and strengthen skills, games and exercises from Spontaneity and introduce new material specific to Narrative Technique.
Narrative Technique is essential in improvisation work. The tools it provides are also useful for anyone using writing skills in their own work or creative life.
Note: Impro Melbourne workshops are for ages 18 and over.
