Term 1 2018

COMMEDIA FOR IMPROVISORS (Part 1)

Four week Masterclass with Chris (Christof!) Gregory
On sale: November 2017
Thursdays February 1st to February 22nd  7.00-10.00pm.

La Commedia Dell'Arte (Italian mask theatre) is where theatre meets impro and they elope to the circus on a runaway train, pursued by an enraged landlord.

We will play with the physicality, definition and interaction of the traditional characters. We will use full mask and trance mask technique but with traditional leather masks. Each session will be supported by movement, staging, story-telling and performance excercises.

The masks and broad characters help embolden and simplify the performers choices. As a style, Commedia captures the immediacy of the improviser's spirit while extending the cheekiness of the story risks and the physicality of the characterisations.

Before we begin, answer this question: What really matters to you?

NOTE: There will be no performance element to this series of workshops

COMMEDIA FOR IMPROVISORS (Part 2)

Thursdays March 1st to March 22nd  7.00-10.00pm
Performance March 29th.

This is an extension of the work in Commedia 1 introducing more characters, working on the individual performers skills and preparing to present the characters to an audience. It builds on the following:
