Mr Chekhov

with Tim Redmond
Anton Chekhov wrote plays and short-stories about yearning and comfort. Though he's been dead for over a hundred years, this deeply humanistic author has much to offer us as artists and improvisers.
In this intensive 3 hour workshop, students will be guided in improvising in the style of Chekhov.
How to sit in silence and read  the unspoken that lives there.
How to exploit narrative beats for deeper connection with their scene partner and the power and beauty of characters  'attempting' revelation, but falling short.
The last hour will be dedicated to creating short plays in the style of Chekhov.
No knowledge of the author is required.

Class size is limited to 8.

Prerequisites: Impro Melbourne's SpontaneityNarrative Technique and Character courses.

Questions? Contact our workshop co-ordinator Katherine.

Age requirement: 18 and over. Please see our Impro in Schools programs for anyone under 18.
