Learn the basics of Upright Citizens Brigade-style comedy writing to turn your funny anecdotes into sketches! If you have ever had something funny happen to you and thought “this would make a funny sketch,” this is the workshop for you. You will learn the components that make up a sketch, how to format sketches and, most importantly, how to turn your “this would make a funny sketch” moment into a tangible written piece. No preparation or previous writing/comedy experience necessary!

Beth Appel is the Artistic Director of the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in Los Angeles, where she has been teaching and performing for over a decade. She can currently be seen performing at UCB every Tuesday with her improv team, CARDINAL REDBIRD and she has written, directed and performed in countless other sketch and improv shows at UCB on both coasts (East and West). You may have seen her on IFC, MTV, TruTV, College Humor, Funny or Die, in various webseries, or, if you live in Germany or Switzerland, in a Volkswagen commercial with fellow heartthrob Robbie Williams.
