The Theatresports™ Schools Challenge brings students together
from schools across Melbourne, from a diverse range of backgrounds and opportunities, in the spirit of mutual respect and support … and it’s fun!

Impro Melbourne firmly believes in improvisation as a tool not only for creativity but for creating better and clearer communication and tolerance. It is our belief that if we can bring a diverse range of students together on a common playing ground then this can foster a greater understanding and respect which can then be taken back to their respective neighbourhoods and social environments.

Winning teams in each division receive:

  • Title of Victoria Schools Theatresports™ Champion for the year.
  • Your schools name added to our Perpetual Trophy and an engraved trophy to display at your school.
  • A guest appearance in Impro Melbourne’s Theatresports™ Show.
  • PLUS! All participating players and teachers receive a double pass to for one of our Theatresports™ shows.

What is the Theatresports™ Schools Challenge?

2016 schools

Teams, of three to five students, compete in a mock competition by performing fun impro games in a supportive environment against schools from across Melbourne in two divisions, Intermediate and Senior.  The focus is on the spirit of impro; play, fun, spontaneity, creativity, storytelling, valuing others, and failing good naturedly.

What happens on the day?

2014_schoolsThe students arrive and are welcomed by the Impro Melbourne team. A fun warm up workshop is held with all students to break down barriers and set the tone for a fun and supportive day.
