Schedule

Friday Nov. 7, 2014

8.00pm – 10.00pm
Maestro Impro™ by Keith Johnstone
Iron Improviser Round 1

Our directors randomly select players from a hat. These selected players must perform scenes according to the directors’ wishes. After each scene they stand before you to face judgment, hoping to receive yoru approval with high scores but always risking possible elimination. The judging begins and ends with you, the audience! Who will win? Who will be victorious? The power is in your hands!

10.30pm – 11.30pm
Go Ahead … Make Me!

This format is inspired by the oft-quoted tough cop line “Go ahead, make my day”, by Clint Eastwood as Harry Callaghan in Sudden Impact (1983). Bravely, one improviser heads to the centre of the stage and says “Go ahead, make me!” A daring open invitation for other players to challenge them. Placing that improviser completely at the mercy and fanciful whim of their fellow players.

Saturday Nov. 8, 2014

6.00pm – 7.00pm
The Impro RoundUp
based on the Open Stage show by Die Gorillas Berlin, Germany

Have you ever wanted to improvise with us on stage? Now is your chance. Come to the show, put your name in the bucket and you might find yourself the star of the show!

7.30pm – 9.30pm
Gorilla Theatre™ by Keith Johnstone
Iron Improviser Round 2

The audience reward and penalise each improviser as they face off as directors, each determined to destroy unworthy theatre by replacing the commonplace with something electrifying, impulsive and unforgettable. They have to fight for their artistic vision an ultimately win you, the audience over! And did we mention the live gorilla can come into play at any time?

10.00pm – 11.00pm
Stuck In The Middle by Rik Brown (Impro Melbourne)

Stuck in the Middle is an energetic and entertaining format. It involves one performer being ‘stuck’ on stage for the entirety of the performance, with no option but to go along with every offer, character, scene, genre or game being thrown at them. It incorporates elements of Long and Shortform, with some scenes being short, sharp, stand-alone scenes, and others becoming ongoing storylines that recur throughout the performance.

Sunday Nov. 9, 2014

5.30pm – 6.30pm
Bouffon directed by Simone Tani

These mistakes of nature use charm and lightness to create social parody. This show is the end result of the Bouffon intensive workshop and will be performed by the students.

7.30pm – 9:30pm
Theatresports™ by Keith Johnstone
Iron Improviser Round 3

Teams will compete head to head in exciting rounds of improvised theatre based on audience suggestions.

Sparks will fly in this fast-paced and action-packed game. You never know what you might see from each show! Theatresports™ is a show for all ages, and an absolute family favourite.

Theatresports™ will end with the crowning of the IRON IMPROVISER!
