The Water of Life
—Portland North Primary School“Absolutely Fantastic. The students were very involved and motivated.
I thought the message they had about looking after our waterways was excellent.”
The Water of Life is a play about a foolish prince who discovers that small thoughtless acts can have big long-term consequences. As the story begins, the prince assumes that when litter is thrown away, “The wind takes it and we never see it again.” It is not until the whole kingdom is ill and the young royal is sent to find the healing water of life that the prince discovers where the litter goes and how it affects our environment.
Based upon the Grimm Brothers’ tale The Water of Life, and using improvisation to stimulate active audience participation, the talented Impro Melbourne company weaves a playful and compelling quest, encountering endearing puppets, a gargantuan giant, a dancing dwarf and decisions about trust, respect and the importance of looking after our precious waterways.
Presented with the generous support of the Australian Children’s Theatre Foundation.
