A list of favourite and memorable things. Films Dancer in the Dark Saw this at the Astor and completely lost my shit. Cried for most of the film - tears of complete joy and utter despair. It is the template by which all other films are emotionally judged. It is also a clean, boldly manipulative film that has the confidence to pin its scares to its heart. Shaw and dreyfuss have the fun parts, but it's Roy Scheider who grounds the dazzle with a performance so commonly good he doesn't appear to be acting.

More to the point, I wanted to 'be' Luke. Magic, destiny, quest, insurmountable odds; good stuff. (Return of the Jedi was my favourite of the three)
